Over time, silicone breast implants may lead to medical conditions that require evaluation and sometimes surgical correction.
The main conditions include:
Silicone leakage – often discovered incidentally during breast imaging. Leakage may lead to changes in breast shape and dispersion of silicone within surrounding tissues.
Capsular contracture – the capsule that naturally forms around the implant may become hardened over time, sometimes requiring surgical correction.
Another condition that has been increasingly discussed is Breast Implant Illness (BII). In a large clinical study conducted by Prof. Gronovich, an association was found between silicone implants and a range of systemic symptoms experienced by some women.
Together with Dr. Maisel Lotan, Prof. Gronovich developed a dedicated device designed to enable complete and controlled removal of silicone implants when required.
This device allows the implant to be removed intact while minimizing the risk of leaving silicone residue behind and maintaining a cleaner surgical field.
This approach allows better control during surgery and may reduce the risk of complications.
